Looking to buy a home?

Here are some questions every home buyer should consider:

  1. Are you pre-qualified for your home loan?
Your loan officer has a set of guidelines developed to help them determine the right mortgage amount for your financial situation.  Based on your income and other factors, your pre-qualification letter will contain the maximum mortgage amount that you are able to obtain from your bank, credit union, or mortgage provider.
  2. What location are you looking for?
Take a minute to look at a map of the area in which you are interested. Then draw a circle on the map encompassing the area in which you would like to live. How big is your circle? What cities, school districts, and attractions are located in the circle? You may complete this exercise our our search page using the map drawing tools.
  3. What price range are you considering?
Your mortgage pre-qualification will determine the upper limit to your loan amount, but below that number, what price range are you looking for? A difference of even $25,000 can mean a significant change in square footage or other meaningful home features.
  4. What type of home are you interested in, existing or new construction?
Finding an existing home that meets your unique needs and preferences can be challenging, especially when those needs are not optional. For this reason, some of our clients choose to buy with a plan to remodel, or build new. Either way, our team is uniquely suited to guide you through the process with our extensive network of home builders and knowledge of construction timelines.
  5. What is your timeline for moving?
Depending on the sale of your current home or your plans for the immediate future, you may have a very short timeline in which you need to move. This is a very important item to discuss with your Realtor®, to make sure your expectations are feasible.
